After recently promising leaked details of the upcoming flagship, there are some regarding the OnePlus 12 battery. First, we heard about the arrival of a periscope camera and optical zoom with a possible 5x or maybe even 10x magnification, but to be honest, I personally don’t believe that.
It’s true that many manufacturers have been stuck at max. 3x optical zoom for a while. The only two globally available, are Samsung and Huawei, with their flagships that often pack 5x or 10x optical zoom. There are some rumors circulating about iPhone 15 Pro Max, which would allegedly bring a periscope camera, but that should be also taken with a grain of salt.
OnePlus 12 battery could bring a significant increase in capacity
According to the latest specifications leaked, OnePlus 12 could bring a battery with a capacity of 5400 mAh, which is noticeably more than the 5000 mAh in the OnePlus 11, as well as in the previous set of rumors. How credible this information is, is difficult to say at the moment.
As I stated before, I’m also suspicious of the periscopic zoom, i.e. the rumored optical magnification. In my humble opinion, if it really happens, and the company actually brings such a camera in the upcoming flagship, the maximum zoom level to be expected is 5x. Yes, OnePlus has partnered with Hasselblad. In my experience, though, that was done only for marketing purposes, at least in previous models. I wish I was wrong about the upcoming one.
Gizchina News of the week
Many rumors, in fact, most of them, often turn out to be true. It’s really hard to tell if the OnePlus 12 would really bring a 5400 mAh battery and if this is something that you should be looking forward to. There’s also a rumor about 100W charging support. When we take into account that even some cheaper phones use 120W, we wouldn’t be surprised if the company actually brings such technology to its next-gen flagship.
Another rumor about charging power speculated about only 50W, so we can’t decide which one to believe in.
Apart from OnePlus 12 battery rumor, As for other details about the new flagship, they might be more credible. One of those is info about display size, for example. Almost all leaksters agree on a 6.7″ LPTO panel with a dynamic 120 Hz refresh rate and 2k resolution. And of course, it will pack an under-display fingerprint sensor, just as its predecessors and many other phones out there.
What about other specs?
Also, the imminent introduction of Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 suggests that there’s no reason for it not to be built into the device. We base this thought on previous models, which have always been coming with the latest Qualcomm silicon. This will have a significant impact on OnePlus 12 battery life. It’s due to the fact that the new SoC is based on the 3nm process. The new flagship 12 should also come in a 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM variant, as well as in a 12 GB one.
As for OnePlus 12 cameras, the rumors circulating at the moment could be credible too. It is possible that the main camera will pack a 50 MP sensor, as well as the ultrawide one. With different angles and focal lengths, apparently. The selfie camera should bring a 32 MP sensor, and will certainly be placed into a punch-hole on the display.
The OS onboard should be Android 14. Bearing in mind that the phone should be officially announced in Q4 2023 after Google announces its final stable version. Of course, there will also be the well-known OxygenOS above. It is often praised by users as one of the best UIs among Android phones.
It would be really nice if these rumors were true. Especially the one about OnePlus 12 battery with the 5400 mAh capacity. It would also be a key selling point since there are not many flagships on the market that can’t last for a day in the hands of a power user.
